We left our hotel this morning with the intention of going to the Durham Museum before heading to Des Moines to go to the water park hotel (we couldn't get our passes until 2 pm). We told N2 that we were going to see trains. We knew the museum opened at 10 am but didn't realize that it didn't open until 1 on Sundays. Oops! Poor N2- no trains for them! Then we went to the Botanic Gardens to see the trains there. We asked N2 if they wanted to go in the gardens and they said no. But we did climb up to see the trains. N2 were disappointed that one, they could not board the trains and two, there were only two trains. So hard to please!
Then we went downtown to try to find these "big slides" that Brian had read about. When we were downtown at the children's museum we tried to find them but we didn't see them at all. We parked and went to the park we thought the slides were in and we walked around and around and didn't see anything! I asked some people and they just told me to go "that way." We roamed some more and finally I found someone who actually knew where they were. They weren't in the park that we were in (even though from what Brian read online, they were supposed to be in that park). The big slides were just 2 slides that were maybe 100 feet. They did go fairly fast and N2 enjoyed themselves until about 20 other children showed up!
Here's what the slides look like and how big they are.
Here are N2 enjoying the slides.
After that we drove to Des Moines and played in the water park. I didn't get my camera out because I didn't know what to expect but it was a PERFECT water park for N2. I took pictures the following day.
