Sports Class: Soccer

N2 have been really enjoying their sports class.  They have played soccer, t-ball, basketball and football so far.  Next week is our last class and I'm curious to see what they are going to play.  The coach wasn't sure what they were going to play, he just promised it would be fun!  During soccer, they practiced dribbling the ball.  They were supposed to keep the ball as close to them as they could.  At first this was really hard for Natalie but then she figured it out.  Noah moved so slowly but he kept the ball by him!

They do a lot of running to warm them up.  This week they were supposed to hop and another time run like airplanes.
Then they got to practice shooting goals.  They had to dribble the ball to the goal and then shoot it in.  Most kids just dribbled to the goal and let it roll in.  They didn't get the concept of shooting!

Then they played a little scrimmage.  N2 were on different teams.  Natalie did not like wearing the jersey and came to sit with me for a while.  We realized it was on backwards and so the neck was high so once I figured that out, she want back to play.  If you imagine a soccer game with 3-4 year olds, that was what this was like.  At first the other team didn't know what to do but then all the kids chasing the ball.  Noah love to steal the ball from other kids but then he didn't know what to do with it.  Natalie would always try going towards her goal (the one that she should be defending) instead of her opponent's goal.

The kids got bored of this so then the coach had the kids practice being goalie with the other kids trying to shoot the ball in the goal.  Natalie was a great goalie!  She had an awesome stop-she knelt on the ball to trap it.  I don't think she knew what she was doing but it looked great!  Noah, on the other hand, wasn't too sure about how to stop the ball.

So far I think soccer was what they showed the most promise at and they both seemed to really like it.  Natalie says all the sports are her favorite and I think Noah said soccer was his favorite.  The coach did seem to think they were good at football.  Ha!

  1. Natalie looks like she's going to be quite a soccer player! And I love her pigtails!
